Preliminary Assessment of Refrigeration Needs

Many interlocutors come to us with a very general idea of their industrial refrigeration needs: this is normal. That's why we stimulate the sharing of technical information through a few questions: desired temperatures, technical peculiarities of your production lines, plant reasoning on machinery and accessories.

We start from stage zero. With all interlocutors

Often the first contact with a prospective customer is an e-mail or an informal phone call: ‘I need heat dissipation in my production line, I need an industrial refrigeration system… but I need you to explain how to do it from scratch’.

This is because frequently the interlocutor, especially in a small company, is a contractor or operations manager who has to manage all production and maintenance processes himself. But engineering offices and specialist technicians also appreciate the figure of a partner who takes over the entire project of refrigeration systems.

Shared Assessment Industrial Refrigeration Project

The art of asking questions... in industrial refrigeration

And this starts from phase zero: asking the right questions, stimulating needs implicit in the type of sector, the geographical area of installation and the company’s consumption history.

This induces the entrepreneur, the plant manager and their consultants to reflect on the peculiarities of the production system in question and, therefore, to identify an initial refrigeration solution calibrated to their needs.

The Stages of Feasibility Analysis

Over time, we have ‘ritualised’ the questions we ask our interlocutors during phase zero of the industrial refrigeration project. Other questions always arise from the mutual exchange of information.

In any case, every first interview starts with a number of considerations.

  • Geographical’ conditions of the production plant: installation area, outside air temperature, hours of operation.
  • Plant operation: production line components, hours of operation, possible load times at certain times of the day.
  • Temperatures of the chilled process liquid, to suit the correct recirculation.
  • Detailed system reasoning, e.g. accessories required: bypass expansion vessel, storage, pumping system, etc.
