Closed-circuit, indirect exchange liquids chillers operating with water or a glycol/water mixture and employing the ambient air as cooling fluid.

A careful selection of the exchange batteries allows to obtain process fluid temperatures nearing the sucked air temperature.

Series “RAW 2.0” dry coolers
High-tech adiabatic systems

Indirect exchange, closed circuit dry coolers for external installation using the ambient air as a primary fluid. They are designed for cooling process liquids by means of a finned pack with oval-shaped copper tubescrossed by ambient air in reverse current. The adiabatic systems allow to reach process fluid temperatures below the temperature of inlet air. This result is obtained through different technologies (adiabatic package /pads, spray, hybrid), chosen on the basis of the specific application.The “RAW” series coolers are environment-friendly units that employ just a water/antifreeze solution as cooled liquid and ambient air as cooling fluid. For applications where the antifreeze liquid cannot be added to the hydraulic system, we developed the special “RAW / S” model allowing manual or automatic emptying of the exchanger. (Please note that this application requires special installation features). The “RAW” series consists of units specially designed and built for energy saving purposes: the top quality materials employed allow to reach high efficiency values (high ratio of chilling yield to electric consumption in kW).

Control Panel

Electronic microprocessor allowing to select and display the chilling liquid’s inlet and outlet temperatures. It controls the unit’s operation and reports any alarm conditions, allowing the remote diagnostics of anomalies also by means of a serial connection. The standard version is equipped with alpha-numeric display showing the unit’s status.

Spray adiabatic system

Exchanger with hydrophillic fin

Use: Water nebulization system that improves the performance of the fanned equipment: the sucked air is sprayed with a thin water mist produced by suitable nozzles. As a result of the adiabatic saturation, the air temperature is lowered and the efficiency of the exchanger is consequently improved.

Description:
• Aluminium finned pack with BLUEFIN hydrophilic treatment to improve the water distribution over the pack and the system’s performance, as well as to prevent galvanic corrosion.
• Factory assembled and wired control panel. The adiabatic system is controlled by the speed adjuster installed on the fanned equipment (R, I or U). ).
• Solenoid valves for system emptying and control. • Safety temperature switch for system emptying in winter. • Pressure reducer for adjustment to the needed pressure for nebulization.
• Control pressure switch.
• SOFTWATER electromagnetic system to prevent limescale deposits on the finned pack. • UV-resistant plastic piping.

Technical data:
• Power feed: 1+N ~ 230V / 50 Hz.
• IP54 protection.

Recommended water quality:
• Hardness 8-12 °f = Max. 4.5-6.7 °dH = Max. 80-120 ppm di CaCO3.
• 6 < pH < 8 to avoid corrosion issues on the finned pack.
• Chlorides < 100 ppm
• Conductivity <1600 μS/cm.
• The temperature of the water to be nebulized before the finned pack must be at least 5°C below the temperature of the process fluid at the exchanger’s outlet.

Spraying nozzles:
• The necessary pressure for the correct operation of the nebulization system is 2,5 bar. Lower pressure values must be avoided.
• The flow rate to each nozzle at a 2.5 bar pressure may range from 1.15 to 1.9 dm3/min depending on the kind of nozzle installed.

INDUSTRIAL ADIABATIC SYSTEM

Use:
Humidification system for the sucked air by means of adiabatic panels. It improves the performance of the fanned equipment.

Description:
• PADS”
panel employed for the distribution of water over the suction area of the fanned equipment.
• Factory assembled and wired control panel. The adiabatic system is controlled by a speed adjuster installed on the fanned equipment (R, I ,U or D).
• Solenoid valves for system emptying.
• Safety temperature switch for system emptying in winter.
• Pressure reducer for adjustment to the needed pressure plus adjustment valves on the inlet side.
• UV-resistant piping in multi-layer material.
• Humidistat for the control of ambient humidity.

Recommended water quality:
• Use drinking water meeting the provision of Council Directive 98/83/EEC.
• Hardness <25 °f ( = CaCO3 content < 250ppm). Higher concentrations, although permitted  for drinking water, dramatically reduce the PAD service life.
• 6 < pH < 8 (under no circumstances must the pH value fall below 5 or raise above 9).
• The temperature of the water to be nebulized before the finned pack must be at least 5°C below the temperature of the process fluid at the exchanger’s outlet.
